How the Vampire Facial Works
The Vampire Facial is a non-invasive treatment utilising the clients own blood to enhance collagen growth and healthy new tissue regeneration.
Before your treatment you will undergo a thorough consultation to determine your suitability and expectations of the treatment. This may be done at a separate time prior to your treatment or on the same day.
About Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment
PRP was first developed for tissue healing and regeneration in orthopedic surgery by injecting platelets taken from patients own blood into the damaged area. This procedure has the ability to attract stem cells into the damaged area promoting the growth of healthy new tissue.
Soon adapted to cosmetic procedures the Vampire Facial was born. Using the same principles, the clients blood is drawn and processed to draw out the platelet rich plasma which is then re-worked into the skin using skin needling or collagen induction therapy. This procedure increases your collagen growth factor by up to 4 times as well as stimulating healthy new skin cells, resulting in plumper, supple, more youthful skin with little downtime.
Once we have established your suitability for the treatment we will draw blood just as though you were having a regular blood test. Skin Body Health uses the highest quality method of platelet rich plasma extraction ensuring we have a high concentration of your healthy platelets to get optimum results. This means taking a slightly higher volume of blood than some other clinics offering this treatment, approximately 60ml for a full face treatment. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge and spun through twice, firstly to separate the plasma from the red blood cells and secondly to isolate the high quality platelets. This will all take place over approximately 20 minutes while you relax enjoy a nice cup of tea!
The Treatment
We will begin your treatment by thoroughly cleansing your skin. The Platelet Rich Plasma is then applied to your skin using our advanced micro-needling system also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, this action will ensure deep penetration and activation of the platelets into the dermis where your cell regeneration and collagen growth take place. Topical anesthesia is an option if your extremely sensitive however we prefer not to apply any chemical compounds or numbing agents to the skin as they are not necessarily the healthiest option for your skin and can also limit some of the pathways for penetration the activated platelets.
The needling process usually takes approximately 10 to 20 minutes depending on the area/s being treated. You will experience an immediate tightness in the skin. We will follow the needling process with an Omni Light Skin Rejuvenation session to encourage healing and healthy new tissue regeneration, this will also help to reduce the initial redness. We will finalise your treatment by applying a hyaluronic acid serum which will hydrate and comfort the skin.
Preparation
Here at Skin Body Health we recognise the benefits a holistic treatment and therefore always advise our clients to be as healthy as possible before undergoing any PRP treatment. This will ensure you get the best results possible since we are using your own platelet rich plasma to treat your skin, the healthier that blood is the better the quality the platelets will be.
Home Care
Your skin will be red the day of the treatment with it subsiding over a couple of days. It is preferable not to cleanse or apply any other products or make-up to your skin on the day of your treatment. You may apply a natural mineral make-up the following day so you can go about your normal activities. The following morning you may cleanse with a gentle cleanser and apply chemical free products to your skin. Your therapist will advise you on the best home regime to compliment the treatment. You will usually experience a slight dryness in the skin for the follwoing week to 10 days so it is important to moisturise regularly but no exfoliation for at least 10 days. We love follow up with a mild peel or micro-dermabrasion treatment around 2 weeks after the PRP to smooth away dead skin and leave the skin radiant and glowing!
What to expect
Growth factors from your platelet rich plasma stimulate stem cell release which causes the skin to create new collagen, new blood vessels and healthy new cells. This process takes place over the nest 4 to 8 weeks following your treatment. Over this time your skin will transform to become healthier, plumper, smoother and more youthful.
Three treatments are optimal for most clients and performed 4 to 6 weeks apart.
